About Us

Crater District Area Agency on Aging (CDAAA) was organized in 1975 under the Virginia Joint Exercise Powers Act. The agency is owned and operated by the nine member local governments of District 19 which includes the cities of Colonial Heights, Emporia, Hopewell and Petersburg and the counties of Dinwiddie, Greensville, Prince George, Surry and Sussex. The agency is primarily funded through the Older Americans Act; however, additional funding is received from other sources including cities and counties through fees, donations and fundraising.

CDAAA gives priority to serving the frail, vulnerable and lowest income seniors within the elderly population. The agency seeks to provide as many services possible to as many seniors possible within the limitations of the annual operating budget.
